“. . . And the Children Shall Lead Us”
This is a Facebook post by Taylor Duncan-member of Bread Fellowship and mother of two of our favorite people—Jane and Jack Duncan
My son just blew me away with the simplest, sweetest sentence. On top of being sick for the better part of last week, Jane has had a gunky eye the last few days. Tonight when I went to unload the sleeping babes from the 3 hour ride back from visiting my family, she woke up and couldn’t open it and was in pain. I got her out, sat her down then went to get Jackson. As I was waking him up I asked if he could be a big boy and carry his blanket and walk so I could help his sister who had a hurt eye and needed me. His sleepy, honest but immediate response was “I
love my Janie.” ❤ 💔 He then walked in the house and to the bathroom where I got her a cold compress then both went back to sleep peacefully. I’m laying here now, praying for healing for my girl and for a heart like my boy. It hit me so hard that I can only hope that when shown someone who needs help that my first, honest but immediate response is “I love my ____” and then move to action without fanfare. Thank you God for these children and for showing me a pure example of love. He didn’t respond because of obedience or guilt or ego, he responded because he loves her. I want to be like him.
Information on our summer schedule
Bread will be taking our regular summer sabbatical during August—no worship on Sunday, but we will be gathering during the week for fund and fellowship. Watch Bread Lines for a schedule of our August activities.
