Front Porch Kind of People
Bread Fellowship is privileged to meet at Arts 5th Avenue in the Fairmount National Historic District. If you drive through Fairmount you will notice that most of the homes have sidewalks and front porches. These are historic homes and point to the time in the life of our country when front porches and sidewalks were a common sight in the United States. Through the years as people have moved to the suburbs it is less likely that you will see sidewalks and front porches. Both are symbols of welcome and friendship--conversations and relationships—symbols of home. Reminders of a day when people knew their neighbors and would gather on the porch to talk.
At Bread Fellowship we are “front porch kind of people.” Everyone is welcome, there is time to talk with each other, friendships are formed and relationships are nurtured. On Sundays we spend time sharing the concerns of our lives, talking about what it means to live like Jesus, and
considering how we can be salt and light in the world. Our time together ends as we gather around the table and share the Lord’s Supper.
It is like being “at home.”
AS IS OUR TRADITION--BREAD FELLOWSHIP WILL NOT MEET ON SUNDAYS IN AUGUST
Reminder: Kickball Game for Veterans
Our own Nick Verzoza write: "While you're remembering those courageous American and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to allow us to continue to live in and perpetuate idea of freedom and democracy... Take action. Kicking' For Defenses raised $3000 for Boot Campaign in its inaugural year and hopes to triple those numbers this year. It's REBoot program is revolutionary in it's approach to making certain our veterans are returning to civilian life with a positive mindset towards their futures and a clear conscience from the
difficult tasks we've asked them to take on in combat. This year's tournament will honor the memory of Officer Patrick Zamarippa, a FW Paschal alum, 3 tour Navy vet, Dallas Police Officer, husband, father, son, brother and friend.
Bread intends to field a team for this worthy cause. If you play kickball-- have ever played kickball—have ever seen a kickball--please sign up. Charlie, Jana, Michelle, Espie, and three of Espie’s friends have signed up. Let Jorene or Charlie know if you can play.
